Terms and Conditions
Booking & Payment – To secure your safari reservation, a deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance must be paid in full before the safari departure, typically 30 to 60 days in advance. Failure to complete payment within the specified timeframe may result in automatic cancellation. Payments are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated in the cancellation policy.
Cancellation Policy – Cancellations must be submitted in writing and are subject to specific charges depending on the time of cancellation. A full refund may be available for cancellations made several months in advance, while last-minute cancellations (within 14 days of departure) may incur up to a 100% penalty. Refunds do not cover bank charges, and rescheduling is subject to availability and additional fees.
Safari Inclusions & Exclusions – Most safari packages include accommodation, meals, national park entrance fees, game drives, and transportation in a 4×4 safari vehicle. However, exclusions may apply, such as drinks, personal expenses, travel insurance, visa fees, optional activities (e.g., Maasai village visits, hot air balloon safaris), and gratuities for guides and lodge staff. Travelers should carefully review what is covered in their specific package.
Travel Insurance – All travelers are strongly advised to have comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellations, loss of luggage, and personal accident coverage. While safari operators take necessary precautions, risks such as illnesses, unexpected itinerary changes, or accidents in remote areas may arise. Insurance ensures peace of mind and financial protection in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Park Entry Regulations – National parks and reserves in Kenya have strict regulations that visitors must follow. These include staying inside safari vehicles during game drives unless in designated areas, refraining from feeding or disturbing wildlife, maintaining a safe distance from animals, and avoiding littering. Violation of park rules may result in fines or removal from the park by authorities.
Itinerary Changes – While safari itineraries are carefully planned, operators reserve the right to modify them due to factors such as weather conditions, park regulations, road conditions, or unexpected circumstances. In rare cases, alternative accommodations or routes may be used to ensure a smooth experience. Such adjustments are made with the traveler’s best interest in mind, ensuring safety and comfort.
Liability Disclaimer – Safari operators take all necessary precautions for a safe experience but are not responsible for injuries, illnesses, loss of property, or unforeseen delays during the trip. By booking a safari, travelers acknowledge that wildlife encounters, road conditions, and other natural factors present inherent risks. Personal belongings, including cameras, passports, and valuables, should be kept secure at all times.
Children & Age Restrictions – While children are welcome on most safaris, some lodges and activities (such as walking safaris or hot air balloon rides) have age restrictions. Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring their children follow safety guidelines and behave appropriately around wildlife. Child discounts may be available, but policies vary by accommodation and safari operator.
Health & Safety – Visitors must ensure they meet health requirements before traveling. Vaccinations against yellow fever, hepatitis, and typhoid may be recommended, and malaria prophylaxis is advised for those visiting high-risk areas. Travelers should carry personal medications and inform the safari operator of any medical conditions that may require special attention. Drinking bottled water is recommended to avoid health issues.
Code of Conduct – Travelers are expected to respect local cultures, fellow travelers, and nature. Disruptive behavior, including excessive noise, reckless driving, or disrespecting local communities, is not tolerated. Guides provide instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, and visitors must adhere to their guidance at all times. Sustainable tourism practices, such as minimizing waste and avoiding single-use plastics, are encouraged to preserve Kenya’s natural heritage.
By booking with Gabi Safaris, travelers agree to abide by these terms and conditions, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable safari adventure.
